ACECLOFENAC 50MG + PARACETAMOL 125MG

ACTICROSS-P 60ML SUSP is an oral suspension of aceclofenac 50 mg with paracetamol 125 mg per dose, for short-term relief of pain and fever where a tablet is unsuitable. It is used for febrile illness with body ache, post-traumatic pain, dental pain and painful musculoskeletal conditions, with the dose measured to body weight by the prescriber.

Benefits

Side effects

Not everyone gets these. Most are mild and settle as the course finishes.

Common
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Epigastric discomfort or abdominal pain
  • Diarrhoea
  • Drowsiness
Less common
  • Gastric irritation or bleeding on repeated dosing
  • Raised liver enzymes
  • Skin rash or itching
  • Reduced urine output
Stop and get medical help if any of these occur
  • Black, tarry stools or vomiting of blood
  • Yellowing of the skin or eyes
  • Swelling of the face, lips or tongue, or difficulty breathing
  • Persistent vomiting or signs of dehydration
  • Widespread rash with blistering or peeling skin

Precautions

  • Dose strictly by body weight and by the prescriber's instruction; use the measure supplied, never a household spoon.
  • Contraindicated in active peptic ulcer, severe hepatic or renal impairment, and NSAID hypersensitivity including aspirin-sensitive asthma.
  • Avoid in dehydration or reduced fluid intake, which increases the renal risk from the NSAID component.
  • Do not combine with any other paracetamol-containing preparation.
  • Give with or after food to limit gastric irritation.
  • Shake well before each dose to ensure uniform strength.
  • Avoid in the third trimester of pregnancy; use earlier in pregnancy and while breastfeeding only on medical advice.
