BESTOGENE SUS(S/F)
DRIED ALUMINIUM HYDROXIDE 25MG + MAGNISIUM
BESTOGENE SUS(S/F) is a sugar-free antacid suspension containing dried aluminium hydroxide and magnesium salts. It is used for the symptomatic relief of acidity, heartburn, acid reflux and indigestion, and the sugar-free base suits patients who need to limit sugar intake.
01
Benefits
- Neutralises gastric acid directly, giving relief within minutes rather than over hours.
- The aluminium and magnesium combination balances the constipating effect of one against the laxative effect of the other.
- Useful for breakthrough symptoms in patients already established on acid-suppressing therapy.
- The suspension coats the irritated mucosa more evenly than a tablet.
- The sugar-free base suits patients with diabetes and those advised to restrict added sugar.
02

Stop and get medical help if any of these occur

- Difficulty or pain on swallowing
- Unexplained weight loss, or persistent vomiting
- Severe or persistent abdominal pain
- Muscle weakness, confusion or an irregular heartbeat in a patient with kidney disease
03
Precautions
- Antacids reduce the absorption of many drugs — tetracyclines, fluoroquinolones, iron, thyroid hormone, azithromycin. Separate doses by at least two hours.
- Use with caution in renal impairment, where aluminium and magnesium accumulate; magnesium-containing antacids are generally avoided in significant renal failure.
- Not for long-term daily use. Persistent symptoms need a diagnosis, not indefinite self-treatment.
- Sugar-free does not remove the need for usual glycaemic monitoring in diabetes.
- Shake well before each dose and use the measure supplied.
- Alarm features — difficulty swallowing, weight loss, vomiting blood, black stools, anaemia — need urgent investigation.
- Use in pregnancy and breastfeeding only on medical advice.
