BETSOLE 1ML INJ

BETAMETHASONE 1ML INJ IP 4MG

BETSOLE 1ML INJ is an injection of betamethasone 4 mg in 1 ml, a potent corticosteroid given intramuscularly, intravenously or by local injection. It is used for severe allergic and inflammatory conditions, acute asthma, anaphylaxis as an adjunct, inflammatory joint and soft-tissue disease, and other conditions needing rapid, powerful anti-inflammatory action.

01

Benefits

  • Potent and rapid suppression of inflammation and immune response where an oral steroid would act too slowly.
  • Useful adjunct in anaphylaxis and severe acute allergic reactions, reducing the risk of a late-phase relapse.
  • Effective in acute severe asthma and in exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
  • Local injection into joints, bursae and tendon sheaths delivers concentrated anti-inflammatory effect with limited systemic exposure.
  • Also used in obstetrics to accelerate fetal lung maturation before anticipated preterm delivery.

Precautions

  • For administration by a qualified healthcare professional only.
  • Contraindicated in systemic fungal infection and in untreated active infection at the site of a proposed local injection.
  • Raises blood glucose. Diabetic patients need closer monitoring and often a temporary increase in their usual therapy.
  • Corticosteroids mask the signs of infection and impair the response to it. Watch closely in any patient at risk.
  • Repeated intra-articular injection damages cartilage; limit the frequency at any one joint.
  • Prolonged or repeated courses suppress the adrenal axis. Do not stop abruptly after extended use — taper under supervision.
  • Use with caution in peptic ulcer disease, uncontrolled hypertension, heart failure, osteoporosis, glaucoma and psychiatric illness.
  • Live vaccines are contraindicated during and shortly after significant corticosteroid exposure.
