BIOSPASS INJ 30ML
DICYCLO HCL 30MG INJ
BIOSPASS INJ 30ML is an injectable preparation of dicyclomine hydrochloride 30 mg, an antispasmodic given intramuscularly. It is used for acute smooth-muscle spasm — intestinal, biliary and renal colic, dysmenorrhoea, and spasmodic abdominal pain — where rapid relief is needed and the oral route is unsuitable.
01
Benefits
- Relaxes gastrointestinal and genitourinary smooth muscle through antimuscarinic and direct actions, relieving colicky pain.
- The injectable route gives faster onset than oral dosing, which matters in acute colic.
- Effective in dysmenorrhoea and in the spasmodic pain of irritable bowel syndrome.
- Useful where vomiting makes oral antispasmodics impractical.
- The multi-dose presentation suits clinic and emergency settings.
02

Stop and get medical help if any of these occur

03
Precautions
- For administration by a qualified healthcare professional, by intramuscular injection only. Not for intravenous use.
- Contraindicated in narrow-angle glaucoma, urinary retention, significant prostatic enlargement, myasthenia gravis, paralytic ileus and obstructive gastrointestinal disease.
- Contraindicated in infants under six months and in breastfeeding — dicyclomine has caused serious apnoeic episodes in infants.
- Do not use to mask undiagnosed acute abdominal pain, which may need surgical assessment.
- Causes drowsiness and blurred vision. The patient must not drive afterwards.
- Use with particular caution in the elderly, who are more susceptible to confusion, urinary retention and falls.
- Anticholinergic effects are additive with antihistamines, tricyclic antidepressants and other antimuscarinic drugs.
- Use with care in hot environments, as reduced sweating impairs temperature regulation.
