C CALCY D3 60K SG M/C
CHOLECALCIFEROL SG (VITAMIN D3 60K) SG
C CALCY D3 60K SG M/C is a soft gelatin capsule of cholecalciferol 60,000 IU, a high-dose vitamin D3 preparation. It is used for the treatment of established vitamin D deficiency and for maintenance in patients at risk, given weekly or monthly on a prescriber's schedule rather than daily.
01
Benefits
- A single high-dose capsule corrects deficiency far more reliably than daily low-dose supplementation, where adherence is often poor.
- Weekly or monthly dosing suits long-term maintenance and is easy for patients to remember.
- Corrects the deficiency that underlies osteomalacia in adults and rickets in children.
- Adequate vitamin D status improves calcium absorption, muscle strength and the response to osteoporosis treatment.
- Vitamin D deficiency is widespread in India despite abundant sunshine, because of skin pigmentation, clothing and indoor living — this addresses it directly.

Precautions
- This is a high-dose preparation taken weekly or monthly, NOT daily. Taking it daily causes vitamin D toxicity. Confirm the schedule with the patient at every dispense.
- Contraindicated in hypercalcaemia, hypervitaminosis D, and in a history of calcium-containing kidney stones.
- Use with caution in renal impairment, and contraindicated or closely supervised in sarcoidosis, tuberculosis and other granulomatous disease, where vitamin D sensitivity is markedly increased.
- Serum calcium and vitamin D should be checked before starting a high-dose regimen and after correction, rather than continuing indefinitely without review.
- Take with a meal containing fat, as vitamin D absorption depends on it.
- Do not combine with another vitamin D preparation.
- Use with caution alongside thiazide diuretics and digoxin.
- Use in pregnancy and breastfeeding only on medical advice.
