C CALCY DROPS M/C
CHOLECALCIFEROL DROPS
C CALCY DROPS M/C is an oral drops preparation of cholecalciferol, for the prevention and treatment of vitamin D deficiency in infants and young children. Vitamin D supplementation is recommended from birth in breastfed infants, whose intake from milk alone is insufficient.
01
Benefits
- The dropper delivers the small, accurate doses that infant supplementation requires.
- Prevents nutritional rickets, which remains common where infants are exclusively breastfed without supplementation.
- Vitamin D is required for calcium absorption and for normal bone mineralisation during the period of fastest growth.
- Breast milk contains little vitamin D regardless of the mother's status, so supplementation of the infant is the reliable route.
- Drops can be given directly or with a feed, which suits daily long-term use.
02
Side effects

03
Precautions
- Dose strictly by the paediatrician's instruction using the dropper supplied. Infant vitamin D overdose is a real and serious hazard.
- Do not give alongside another vitamin D-containing supplement or fortified formula without checking the total daily intake.
- Contraindicated in hypercalcaemia and in known hypervitaminosis D.
- Use with caution in renal impairment.
- Give with a feed, as absorption depends on dietary fat.
- Keep out of reach of children and store as directed, away from light.
- Attend for routine review — supplementation should be checked against growth and, where indicated, blood levels rather than continued indefinitely without assessment.
