CAREFIX 100MG DS(SWFR)
CEFIXIME 100MG DRY SUSP
CAREFIX 100MG DS(SWFR) is a dry suspension of cefixime 100 mg, a third-generation oral cephalosporin, reconstituted with water before use. It is used for otitis media, pharyngitis and tonsillitis, sinusitis, bronchitis, typhoid fever and urinary tract infection caused by susceptible organisms.
01
Benefits
- Good activity against Gram-negative organisms including the beta-lactamase-producing Haemophilus and Moraxella strains common in ear and sinus infection.
- Once- or twice-daily dosing is far simpler to sustain than the four-times-daily schedules of older oral agents.
- The suspension allows accurate weight-based dosing in children.
- An established oral option in uncomplicated typhoid fever, avoiding injectable therapy.
- Absorption is not significantly affected by food, so it can be given with a meal to reduce stomach upset.
