PLASTER
CAREIT TAB is a medicated plaster for the localised relief of muscular and joint pain. It is applied directly over the painful area and left in place, providing sustained topical relief for backache, neck and shoulder stiffness, muscular strain and joint aches. Side effects
Not everyone gets these. Most are mild and settle as the course finishes.
Common
- Redness or itching under the plaster
- Warmth or mild burning at the site
- Skin irritation on removal
- Residue left on the skin
Less common
- Contact dermatitis with persistent redness and itching
- Blistering under the plaster with prolonged wear
- Sensitisation on repeated use
- Skin damage from repeated application to the same site
Stop and get medical help if any of these occur
- Severe burning, blistering or ulceration under the plaster
- Swelling of the face, lips or tongue, or difficulty breathing
- Widespread rash spreading beyond the application site
- Wheeze or breathlessness after application, if the product contains a salicylate or NSAID
- Skin that remains broken or painful after removal

Precautions
- Check the pack for the specific active ingredients and the maximum wear time before use — medicated plasters vary considerably in composition and in how long they may be left on.
- For external use only. Do not apply to broken skin, open wounds, burns, eczematous skin or mucous membranes.
- Never apply heat over a medicated plaster — the combination of occlusion and heat can cause serious burns.
- Do not exceed the stated wear time, and rotate the site rather than reapplying repeatedly to the same area.
- If the product contains a salicylate or an NSAID, avoid it in aspirin-sensitive asthma and in NSAID hypersensitivity, and avoid in the third trimester of pregnancy.
- Remove immediately if burning, marked redness or discomfort develops under the plaster.
- Symptomatic relief only. Persistent pain, marked swelling, deformity or pain after significant injury needs medical assessment.
- Keep out of reach of children, and use in pregnancy, breastfeeding and in young children only on advice.
