FEXEGRA-120 TAB
FEXOFENADINE HCL 120MG
FEXEGRA-120 TAB is a tablet of fexofenadine hydrochloride 120 mg, a non-sedating second-generation antihistamine. It is used for seasonal allergic rhinitis and hay fever, relieving sneezing, runny nose, itchy eyes and palate without the drowsiness of older antihistamines.
01
Benefits
- Fexofenadine is the least sedating of the common antihistamines, as it does not appreciably cross the blood-brain barrier.
- Particularly suited to drivers, machine operators, students and anyone who cannot tolerate drowsiness.
- Once-daily dosing at this strength gives cover across the full day in seasonal allergic rhinitis.
- No significant anticholinergic effect, so it avoids the dry mouth and urinary hesitancy of older agents.
- Does not prolong the QT interval, unlike the withdrawn antihistamines it replaced.
02

Precautions
- Take with water only. Fruit juices — particularly grapefruit, orange and apple — substantially reduce fexofenadine absorption and should be avoided around the dose.
- Separate from aluminium- or magnesium-containing antacids by at least two hours, as they bind fexofenadine and reduce its effect.
- Dose reduction is required in significant renal impairment.
- Stop several days before allergy skin testing, or the test will give a false negative.
- Contraindicated in known hypersensitivity to fexofenadine.
- Any allergic reaction with breathing difficulty or facial swelling needs emergency care, not an oral antihistamine alone.
- Use in pregnancy and breastfeeding only on medical advice.
