PEDIAPROT DHA(VANILLA)
PEDIATRIC PROTEEN POWDER
PEDIAPROT DHA(VANILLA) is a paediatric protein powder, a nutritional supplement rather than a medicine. It is used to help meet the protein and energy requirements of growing children where dietary intake is inadequate, in poor appetite, and during convalescence after illness.
01
Benefits
- Provides a measured source of protein and energy for children whose dietary intake falls short of requirements.
- Supports growth and tissue repair during the period of rapid development.
- Useful during and after illness, when appetite is poor but requirements are raised.
- A palatable flavoured drink is often accepted by a child who will not eat a full meal.
- Mixes into milk or water, allowing intake to be spread across the day.
02
Side effects
Not everyone gets these. Most are mild and settle as the course finishes.
Common

Stop and get medical help if any of these occur
- Swelling of the face, lips or tongue, or difficulty breathing
- Widespread hives or rash after a dose
- Persistent vomiting or severe abdominal pain
- Continued failure to gain weight despite supplementation
- Marked reduction in urine output
03
Precautions
- A nutritional supplement, not a medicine, and not a substitute for a balanced diet or for assessing a child who is not growing.
- Poor appetite and failure to gain weight need a diagnosis. Tuberculosis, intestinal worms, coeliac disease and chronic infection are common treatable causes a supplement will mask.
- Contraindicated in known allergy to milk protein or soya, depending on the protein base.
- Children with kidney or liver disease should take protein supplements only on medical advice.
- Introduce gradually and increase fluid intake alongside, which reduces bloating and constipation.
- Do not let the supplement displace solid food — it is intended to add to the diet, not replace meals.
- Prepare with clean water or milk, use promptly once mixed, and keep the container tightly closed.
