PROTOROS CHOCO SF

PROTEIN POWDER

PROTOROS CHOCO SF is a nutritional protein supplement, not a medicine. It is used to help meet daily protein requirements where dietary intake is inadequate or needs are raised — convalescence, post-surgical recovery, poor appetite in the elderly, and periods of increased physical demand. It is intended to supplement a normal diet, not to replace meals or treat any disease.

01

Benefits

  • Provides a convenient measured source of dietary protein for patients who struggle to meet requirements from food alone.
  • Supports the maintenance and repair of muscle tissue during convalescence and after surgery or prolonged illness.
  • Useful in the elderly and in those with poor appetite, where a palatable drink is accepted more readily than a full meal.
  • The sugar-free formulation suits patients who need to limit added sugar, including those managing diabetes under supervision.
  • Mixes into milk or water, allowing intake to be spread across the day rather than concentrated in one sitting.
02

Side effects

Not everyone gets these. Most are mild and settle as the course finishes.

Common
  • Bloating or a feeling of fullness
  • Flatulence
  • Loose stools, particularly when first started
  • Nausea if taken in too concentrated a mix
Less common
  • Abdominal cramping in those with lactose intolerance
  • Constipation if fluid intake is not increased alongside
  • Unwanted weight gain when taken in addition to an already adequate diet
  • Skin rash or itching in those sensitive to milk protein or added flavouring
Stop and get medical help if any of these occur
  • Swelling of the face, lips or tongue, or difficulty breathing
  • Widespread hives or rash after a dose
  • Persistent vomiting or severe abdominal pain
  • A marked reduction in urine output
03

Precautions

  • Not a medicine and not a substitute for a balanced diet or for medical treatment of any condition.
  • Contraindicated in known allergy to milk protein or soya, depending on the protein base.
  • Patients with chronic kidney disease or liver disease should take protein supplements only on medical advice, as protein load requires supervision in these conditions.
  • Introduce gradually and increase fluid intake alongside, which reduces both bloating and constipation.
  • Use in infants and young children only on paediatric advice.
  • Prepare with clean water or milk, use promptly once mixed, and keep the container tightly closed in a cool dry place.
