PYRIBEST COLD DROPS

PARACETAMOL IP 125MG PHENYLEPHRINE HYDROCHLORIDE IP 2.5MG CHLORPH

PYRIBEST COLD DROPS is an oral drops preparation combining paracetamol 125 mg, phenylephrine hydrochloride 2.5 mg and chlorpheniramine, for infants and young children. It is used for fever with a runny and blocked nose, with the dose set by the paediatrician.

01

Benefits

  • The dropper delivers the small accurate volumes that infant dosing requires.
  • Paracetamol reduces fever and relieves discomfort.
  • Phenylephrine relieves nasal blockage, which in infants interferes directly with feeding and sleep.
  • Chlorpheniramine dries the runny nose and post-nasal drip.
  • Concentrated formulation delivers the dose in a small volume, which matters when an infant will take little.

Precautions

  • Cough and cold combinations are not recommended in young children and carry a real risk of serious harm from dosing errors. Use only on paediatric advice and strictly at the stated dose.
  • Dose using the dropper supplied. Never estimate, and never substitute a syrup measure.
  • Do not give alongside any other paracetamol-containing preparation — duplication is the commonest cause of paediatric paracetamol overdose.
  • Not for use in children below the age stated on the label.
  • Contraindicated in cardiac disease, hyperthyroidism, narrow-angle glaucoma and urinary retention.
  • Do not give with, or within fourteen days of, a monoamine oxidase inhibitor.
  • Keep out of reach of children and store as directed.
  • Seek review urgently for fast breathing, chest indrawing, difficulty feeding or persistent fever.
