RITEPOD-100 TAB
CEFPODOXIME 100MG
RITEPOD-100 TAB is a tablet of cefpodoxime 100 mg, a third-generation oral cephalosporin. It is used for pharyngitis, tonsillitis, sinusitis, otitis media, bronchitis, community-acquired pneumonia, skin infections and uncomplicated urinary tract infection.
01
Benefits
- Broader Gram-positive cover than cefixime, including streptococci and methicillin-sensitive staphylococci, alongside good Gram-negative activity.
- That combined spectrum makes it a useful single agent for sinusitis, otitis media and skin infection.
- Twice-daily dosing is convenient.
- The 100 mg strength suits milder infections and step-down dosing.
- A practical oral option after initial injectable cephalosporin therapy.

Precautions
- Contraindicated in known cephalosporin allergy; use with caution in penicillin allergy and avoid entirely after penicillin anaphylaxis.
- Cefpodoxime absorption requires gastric acid — give with food, and avoid antacids and proton pump inhibitors around the dose or the antibiotic will underperform.
- Dose reduction is required in significant renal impairment.
- Complete the full prescribed course even once symptoms settle.
- Ineffective against viral infections.
- Use in pregnancy and breastfeeding only where clearly indicated.
