SERARIS 10 TAB 20'S

SERRATIOPEPTIDASE 10MG

SERARIS 10 TAB 20'S is a tablet of serratiopeptidase 10 mg, a proteolytic enzyme. It is used to reduce swelling, bruising and inflammatory oedema after trauma, surgery and dental procedures, and in soft-tissue injury and ENT inflammation where swelling limits function.

01

Benefits

  • Hydrolyses inflammatory exudate and fibrin, helping disperse swelling rather than only masking pain.
  • Reducing oedema relieves the pressure component of post-traumatic and post-surgical pain.
  • Speeds the resolution of bruising and haematoma after injury or surgery.
  • Contains no NSAID or paracetamol, so it can be added to an existing analgesic regimen without duplication.
  • Widely used after dental extraction, ENT procedures and orthopaedic surgery.
02

Side effects

Not everyone gets these. Most are mild and settle as the course finishes.

  • Nausea or epigastric discomfort
  • Loose stools
  • Alteration in the colour and odour of stools
  • Altered taste
Less common
  • Skin rash, itching or flushing
  • Abdominal cramping
  • Cough or breathlessness attributed to the enzyme
  • Increased bruising
Stop and get medical help if any of these occur
  • Unusual bruising or bleeding
  • Swelling of the face, lips or tongue, or difficulty breathing
  • Widespread rash or hives
  • Severe abdominal pain
  • Black or tarry stools
03

Precautions

  • Swallow whole on an empty stomach with water. Crushing or chewing destroys the enteric coating that protects the enzyme from gastric acid.
  • Avoid in patients with coagulation disorders or on anticoagulants — serratiopeptidase may add to bleeding risk.
  • Stop before planned surgery on the surgeon's advice.
  • Contraindicated in known hypersensitivity to serratiopeptidase.
  • Use with caution in severe hepatic or renal impairment, and in active peptic ulcer disease.
  • This reduces swelling; it is not an analgesic or an antibiotic, and infected swelling still needs appropriate treatment.
  • Use in pregnancy and breastfeeding only on medical advice.
