KIDNEY STONE
STONECROSS LIQUID 200ML is a herbal liquid preparation traditionally used in the management of urinary stones. It is used as an adjunct for small renal and ureteric calculi, to ease the passage of stone fragments, and to reduce recurrence in patients prone to stone formation.

Side effects
Not everyone gets these. Most are mild and settle as the course finishes.
Common
- Increased urine output and frequency
- Nausea or mild stomach upset
- Altered taste
- Loose stools
Less common
- Abdominal cramping
- Headache
- Skin rash or itching
- Dizziness
Stop and get medical help if any of these occur
- Severe loin pain with fever, chills or vomiting — an obstructed infected kidney is a urological emergency
- Inability to pass urine
- Heavy blood in the urine, or passing clots
- Persistent vomiting with severe pain
- Swelling of the face, lips or tongue, or difficulty breathing

Precautions
- A traditional herbal preparation, not a substitute for urological assessment. Stones need imaging to establish size and position — larger stones will not pass and require intervention.
- Severe loin pain with fever is a urological emergency. An obstructed, infected kidney can cause sepsis and permanent damage within hours.
- Not appropriate for large stones, complete obstruction, or a single functioning kidney.
- Use with caution in renal impairment, heart failure and in patients on diuretics, where the diuretic effect adds up.
- Maintain a high fluid intake throughout — that is the single most effective measure in stone prevention, with or without this preparation.
- Tell the prescriber about all conventional medicines being taken, as herbal preparations can interact.
- Stone recurrence is common and warrants investigation of the underlying metabolic cause.
- Use in pregnancy and breastfeeding only on the advice of a qualified practitioner.
