SUCRAROS-O 200ML SUSP

SUCRALFATE + OXETACAINE SYP

SUCRAROS-O 200ML SUSP is an oral suspension combining sucralfate with oxetacaine, a mucosal protective agent paired with a local anaesthetic. It is used for painful peptic ulcer, gastritis and reflux oesophagitis, where the burning pain needs numbing as well as the ulcer protecting.

01

Benefits

  • Sucralfate forms a physical protective layer over the ulcer base, shielding it from acid and pepsin while it heals.
  • Oxetacaine numbs the inflamed oesophageal and gastric mucosa directly, relieving pain within minutes.
  • The combination is particularly useful in painful oesophagitis, where healing takes days but the patient wants relief now.
  • Sucralfate works locally without reducing gastric acid, avoiding the long-term risks of acid suppression.
  • The suspension coats the mucosal surface more effectively than a tablet.

03

Precautions

  • The anaesthetic numbs the throat and impairs the gag reflex. Do not eat or drink for at least an hour after a dose — there is a real risk of choking or aspiration.
  • Numbing pain can mask the symptoms of a serious condition. Do not use for undiagnosed persistent abdominal or chest pain.
  • Sucralfate binds many other drugs and markedly reduces their absorption. Separate all other medicines by at least two hours.
  • Take on an empty stomach, at least an hour before meals.
  • Contains aluminium — use with caution in renal impairment.
  • Alarm features — weight loss, difficulty swallowing, vomiting blood, black stools, anaemia — need urgent investigation.
  • Contraindicated in known hypersensitivity to oxetacaine or other local anaesthetics.
  • Shake well before each dose and use the measure supplied.
