VCZ-AD CHEWABLE TAB
VITAMIN C + VITAMIN A + VITAMIN D + ZINC
VCZ-AD CHEWABLE TAB is a chewable tablet combining vitamin C, vitamin A, vitamin D and zinc. It is used as a supplement for immune support, eye and skin health, and bone development, particularly in children and where dietary intake is inadequate.
01
Benefits
- Vitamin A is essential for vision, particularly night vision, and for the integrity of skin and mucosal barriers.
- Vitamin C supports collagen formation, wound healing and immune function.
- Vitamin D is required for calcium absorption and bone mineralisation, and deficiency is widespread in India.
- Zinc supports immune function, growth, wound healing and taste perception.
- The chewable format needs no water and is accepted readily by children.
02
Side effects
Not everyone gets these. Most are mild and settle as the course finishes.
Common
- Nausea, particularly on an empty stomach
- Metallic taste from the zinc
- Loose stools
- Abdominal cramping
Less common
- Headache
- Constipation
- Loss of appetite
- Tooth erosion with prolonged chewing of acidic tablets
Stop and get medical help if any of these occur
- Severe headache with blurred vision or vomiting, which may indicate vitamin A toxicity
- Marked thirst, frequent urination, confusion or unusual drowsiness
- Dry cracked lips, peeling skin and hair loss, which suggest chronic vitamin A excess
- Loin pain or blood in the urine
- Swelling of the face, lips or tongue, or difficulty breathing
03
Precautions
- Vitamin A is fat-soluble and accumulates. Do not exceed the stated dose or combine with another vitamin A-containing supplement — chronic excess causes serious toxicity, particularly in children.
- Contraindicated in pregnancy and in women who may become pregnant without medical advice — high-dose vitamin A is teratogenic.
- Do not combine with another multivitamin or vitamin D preparation.
- High-dose vitamin C increases the risk of oxalate kidney stones; use with caution in a history of stones and in renal impairment.
- Prolonged high-dose zinc causes copper deficiency.
- Contraindicated in hypercalcaemia and in known hypervitaminosis A or D.
- Keep out of reach of children — a palatable chewable tablet is easily over-consumed.
- Take after food, and rinse the mouth after chewing to protect tooth enamel.
